1) Speaking Of the attitudes of traditional teachers, "The educated man is the addapted man, because he is better "fit for the world." Is this true?
If I were to respond based upon overall consensus, i would say yes, but because I do not agrre I have to say no. Education imn my oppinion is not the determining factor of whether one is fit for the world. There are far too many examples of individuals who had no education and when launching into their destiny became successful in spite of the their lack of education.
I am of of the oppinion that their is no possitive when trying to make people fit into an expected end. all you do is create clones, not creative thriving personalities. To me that is negative. Let us suppose that the structure that was expected changes for some reason. well those who were conditioned or taught to handle things as they were would be completely lost. They would not be able to adjust to the change which in turn would be their set up for failure and disapointment.
2) In your experience, does it seem that education should make students more passive still, and adapt them to the world"? Explain with examples.
Easily I reflect back to the previouse answer given. I have noted individuals who have learned all they were taught and held that information close, using it to be a strict guide through the things they encountered. At the moment those tiools failed they seemed lost and without direction. i even know of a person that committed suicide because the thing that they believed would not change did.
hence I reiterated"the structure changed and that person was left without the ability to adjust and so was left only with a feeling odf dispair and loss. feeling that because they were ill equiped there was no reason to live.
3) Freire states that "in jasperian split" [one has] conciousness as consciousness of conciousness." Can you give and example of a time you were consiousness of consiousness(i.e., a time that you were aware of being aware of doing something)?
Yes while working on this assignment I am concious of the fact that I am answereing the questions and concious of the thought that i am having while accomplishing the task while i am consious of the effort to type it out and make sure it is correct.
4) Frier states that "Liberating education consists in acts of cognition, not transferals of information. it is a learning situation in which the cognizable object(far from being the cognitive act) intermediates the cognitive actors-teacher on the one hand the students on the other." What do you take that to mean?
I believe that means that there is a mutual dialog taking place between the teacher and the student . And all answers are being reached with valuable input from both.
The example i would give is a situation were a resolve must take place in a particular situation that may have come up. Instead of the teacher taking a dictarian perspective, he or she instead involves the student in finding a solution by asking them for their ideas on the matter.
5) Freire maintains that dialogical relations are indispensable to the capacity of cognitive actors[teachersand students] to cooperate in percieving the same cognizable object." How does Freire explain that problem posing education solves this problem?
He states that problem posing education, breakes the vertical pattern, the teacher is no longer just the one who teaches but is as well taught in dialog with the students, who in turn teach while being taught. They become jointly responsible for the process in which all grow.
6) Freire states that "wereas banking education anesthetizes and inhibits creative power, problem posing education envolves a constant unveiling of reality'\." Why does he think this is good thing? What does problem posing education allow for that the banking type does not?
He thinks it is a good thing because it allows student to be creative and constantly evolving able to adjust to change and adapt to changing situations.
Problem posing aloows for equal dialog to take place were as banking is just as it implies.the deposit of information without question or dialog.
7) Friere ends his thoughts on dialogic student teacher relations by saying gradualy the students come to regard themselves as committed."
Committed to the opportunity to increase in language, learning and life. Committed to the personal responsibility towards their own learning experience and how far they choose to go in it. becomming a active participant instead of a programed subject.
